We stopped along the way by Tsavo National Park and picked up a police officer, and a friend of Stephens’, to drive the rest of the way. When he began driving I started to seriously doubt whether or not we’d make it to Mombasa alive. We were going between 90 and 100 mph…along potholed roads…sometimes in the pouring rain. We miraculously made it, and in good time, well obviously.
Along the way we sped past a zebra grazing by the side of the road. Kenya never ceases to surprise me.
