I stopped by Makena this afternoon to check in and make sure they were all set for their fashion show this weekend. After many hours of hard work, an American volunteer, Sandi, did a great job putting together a website last-minute for Makena (thanks Sandi!). The women at Makena were excited to hear about their new website, although they won’t see it until next week after they purchase a Safaricom modem. I wrote the URL across the front of the brochures, so hopefully we’ll be getting some visitors soon! Also, the website for the Miriam Kanana Mubichi Foundation got a dramatic facelift. It looks beautiful! (Click on the images below to visit the new websites).
I also wanted to show them a logo I’d been working on all week. I was nervous to see their reaction after working on it for so many hours, but they loved it! It’s still not finished, but here is a rough draft. The shapes underneath the cat will hopefully look less like worms and more like yarn after they’re finished!
My last health club lesson at Kaaga went much like yesterday’s did except the kids were rowdy, as usual, and knew fewer answers. However, I think what they knew was proportional to how often they paid attention, so I guess that means they learned and understood when they were being attentive.
